Historyworks, Inc. is dedicated to innovative historical research, writing, planning, design and media production. The fifteen year-old company’s goal is to create first-rate historical storytelling with popular appeal. It has worked with historical societies, museums and local, state and national government agencies. Historyworks president, Burt Kummerow, has been an academic historian, writer and popular speaker, public television producer, museum director and rock musician.  His colleagues have called him the “best historical interpreter of his generation in Maryland.” Along with a group of knowledgeable associates, Burt brings long experience to every phase of public history.  Kummerow is currently the President and CEO of the Maryland Historical Society.


Since 1998 Historyworks has completed numerous popular video, audio and written projects for such prestigious organizations as the Clark County Historical Society, Maryland Public Television,  the French and Indian War 250th Consortium, National Park Service, Office of the Maryland Comptroller, and the Southern Governor’s Association.
